I have a 97 chevy cavalier 2.2 liter with an auto. what are some quick, cheap, easy ways to help get some more power and speed out of this car? I run on a mid banked 1/4 mile dirt track in illinois. Any addvise will be great and thanks in advance everyone!
My advice would be look at the rulebook and see what you can do is regards to intake and exhaust systems before you get into the real involved work as far as engine and drivetrain. Just because you have 'big' exhaust tubing doesn't mean you are flowing the best possible when you are running a close to stock or stock based engine. Another thing is don't go 'this far' and just dump the exhuast out if you don't have to. The length of the exhaust pipe does play a role as well. If you can, smooth out the induction tract as well with tubing or other ways possible.Besides synthetic oils check your other parasitic losses like worn wheel bearings.Edit: The exhaust length will be a R&D project. Each application is different.
