ok my problem is when i start out in first gear it ripps but as soon as i shove it in 2nd gear at over 3000 rpms its boggy. last year was running same setup but with a junk yard motor and 2nd gear ripped just like it was in first gear. help please

The junk yard engine may have had a better cam in it. OK what size track do you usually run? You may need more rear gearing. I would go to a 3:70 to maybe a 3:90 gear. It will push you back in the seat. That to me would be the cheapest way to go.
Where is your total timing? What RPM is the total timing all in? Give this a try.

Was the junkyard engine a different model and year?
You could have had an engine with a diff. compression and camshaft which would give you more ummff.
Some casting numbers would be useful to identify what it could have been or used to be. Knowing what Pepsi asked is one of many variables out there as well.
