358 skip or sputter issue

358 chevy with 750 Demon race carb., performance dui distributor with locked advance. sputters or skips at mid range rpms 2000-5000. idles normally. engine won't turn any higher. takes around 10 or so laps or whenever the engine gets 200 or so degrees. skips and sputters go away and everything is good to go? any suggestions on why the engine is having to clear out? i though it might have been the spark plugs, and the gaps. changed plugs; opened gap from .35 to .42.. timing was initially set at 34 deg. but hasn't been checked since.

Could it be a octane issue??? Not enough or to much might have that effect.

Haven't thought about that. It's either 110 or 112. track fuel.

May be its 112 , actually i am also not sure
Watch out for used Nissan Altima cars in your area
