Im building a motor for a factory stock car for a 1/4 mile dirt track..track stays wet with grip all night, wat are the benefits of having a big bore/short stroke motor on this type of track and is it possible to bolt on a big block oil pump to achieve better oil pressure, oil pressure is fine now except in turns wen car starts to lay over and sling most oil to passenger side, was told that a big block oil pump will solve that problem and i will hold good oil pressure in turns, just dont know if it will bolt up directly or if i need an adapter...block is 4 bolt main with 1 piece rear main seal if that helps...wats the best way to get the big bore/short stroke out of a 350 block?

It is possible to bolt a BBC chevy oil pump to a SBC, but, what you should be looking at first before you put a pump in, look at the oil system as a whole. The internals of your pump, your oil gallery and your oil drain back routes. Deburr what is needed and smooth out what is needed both in the block and in the pump itself. There is more flow improvement work that can be done in an afternoon than most think. If you were to install a higher volume pump with the same obstructions in the system, is there any benefit other than the raised pressure? I don't see it.

Also, if you are increasing your pressure you are putting more tension between the pump and the distributor, increasing the possibility of ignition problems, also known as "spark scatter".

Being 3.48x4.003 inch bore, I would say its already a big bore and short stroke. I see it is a "factory" engine you are building, what is the limit for cubes? 350?
