i have a friend who was trying various vacuum pumps on one of his projects..
he ended up with an electric air injection pump off a newer gm...
he was really happy with it..
just an idea... i don't know if it's legal...
creative people might rig it up with an adjustable vacuum switch controlling a relay so it only runs when the intake manifold vacuum drops.. below idle levels.. so its not running all the time..
he and i were discussing a baffled can stuffed with chore boys as a oil trap mounted between the engine and the pump..
he did hook up a compound vacuum/pressure gauge to the valve cover to monitor the crank case vacuum... think the vacuum gauge /fuel pump pressure tester.. goes from 30 inches of vacuum to 15 pounds of pressure.. with 5/16 hose so it moves fast...
this is one gauge.. like i am talking about..

but something like this is what he used. just to give you an idea...
