my headers glow red hot

what would cause this to happen and how can i fix it motor is not hot the headers just glow                                please help i do not want to mess up my motor but I am out of ideas tried a lot but not enough  

valves not adjusted right,not timed right,  too lean.  

Sounds like you're running too lean, and have too much advance in the ignition system. Recheck your base and advanced timing, then look at going up a jet size or two on the carb.  

What diameter exhaust tubing are you running?

My track only allows us to run exhaust manifolds in purestock class. The first motor i built and the very first race i raced, when i came in to be tech'd, the manifolds were cherry red.

Heres why for me and i also dynoed an extra 10hp
The way the manifolds come down the right bank come horizontal to the ground while the left bank comes almost straight down. I ran 2 inch pipe on both sides to glasspacks. turns out the motor was choked up at high rpm (i turn 8,000-10,000). I ran 2 and a half on the left and 2 and a 1/4 on the right. The right bank will flow better and the left was more choked. They were matched so to say. didnt have any more blueing or the manifolds getting cherry any more.  

Defintiely sounds like the motor is running with way too much advance.  

Actually your timing is probably too retarded. If your timing is too low (for racing applications), for example; less than 8 degrees BTDC, the fuel mixture will burn as the exhaust valve opens and it will burn in the header creating extreme heat.  

Definitely retarded. You may have your timing chain off a notch or two.
