New (REAL) Stock Class for Dirt Track

I would like to see a NEW stock class get started here in Northwest Louisiana. Boothill Speedway has always been my favorite track because I started racing there when I was 16 years old. Mr. Doyle Wise was the owner at that time and he had a great racing program every saturday night. Every time a new streetcar class is started , it's only a matter of time before somebody is allowed to bend the rules a little bit and then , it's like a slow leak in a car tire. In just a few short months , and the class has got completely out of hand with all kinds of racing crap being allowed to be put on the stock cars. I know it's got to be hard to enforce for the track owners maybe but , kids need a cheap ,clean , and safe hobby to get into these days and a bone stock car is a good thing for the whole family. There are risk in any car racing ,(I KNOW) but , if a car's rollcage is built right , the chances of a 16 year old or older kid getting hurt bad or hurt at all in a bone stock car are very slim. I would like to hear some thoughts of others on this subject.

Hello, Mostly it depends on the "honor" system. Cheaters will eventually be found out. There's no way, short of tearing apart, every car. This isn't NASCAR with unlimited funds, so only the most obvious, will be seen. Maybe some day people will abide by their Honor. Elmer

as a track owner here in south texas we have the same problem. we keep racers on track by checking every week , tires rearends engine displacement ( cylinder volume ) cams ( vaccume at 1500 rpm ) and rely on tattle tail racers also , we demand stock ( if it didn't come on that car it can't be used ) stock suspension as per car with no modification .
i fought the wall and the wall won!!!

I will agree with you on the whole getting out of hand, especially if techs play favorites. It would help if not just the techs enforced it but the racer stay true to the class rules they run under. But some just can't take losing fair and square so they cheat. A quote I had seen a couple years back really says it all. "If you cheat to win, you've already lost".
The race track I used to attend was terrible. The techs coudln't catch a slightly stroked engine in one class, they let another racer go on excessive compression, until I told one of the other racers the actual compression specification, which I am surprised he didn't know the rule book himself. Its just a disgrace. Plus at this same track there is no cost restriction on engine building when the class is supposed to STOCK. Lazy is what it is! If everyone wants to dump goodies into their car, we might as well have a "open" regulation "stock" class if thats even possible.
Strictness must be enforced not only by officials but also by owners. The reason why I say owners is because it will give the tech official a larger foundation and more reason to perform the best from not only by example, but, from the heart on whats right if he really is a fan of the sport!

At my track we have a class called a dromer. it is supost to be almost all the way stock and even supost to pull vacum on motors. When i started 2 years ago at 18 it cost about 1000 or so to buid a ok car to have fun. In 2 years the cars that are runing fast have spent over 10000 in there cars and getting away with anything. It sucks but there is nothing i can do about it. They should stick to the rules but they never do.

67 speedway is a great example of people getting away with illegal parts, we had a guy that regularly drives modifieds drive a factory stock in one race, in our factory stock its illegal to have quick steer but he had it it was covered by roll bar padding and tape, wen he won he pulled infront of the flag stand and the flag man pointed something suspicious out inside the car..but he never got disqualified or lost anything..he kept the trophy and got the money he didnt even need..he drives the #36 modified bryan mewborn is his name...if he ever races against u just protest him, he always has something illegal on his cars,, he has passed the tech area and went to his hauler for a few minutes then went back to tech...tell me that they let him get away with stuff
