rear ends gears - coated or polished...

i'm trying to pick up a little off the corners... i'm thinking of the following things.. what are the goods and bads of the ideas...

1)having the gears coated or polished?  
which method be be the best in my 3-link frankland??

2)narrow qualifying gears..
one of my competitors was using the narrower quick change gears, he was fast all year...  where can i find them?

Anything you can do to reduce friction in the rear end will help. Both coating and polishing reduce heat and friction.

Please don't assume that the narrow gears are all that is making your competition fast. Being fast is as much about setup and handling as it is about horsepower. It's OK to try to make gains in all areas, just don't limit your thinking.  

55,  I have to agree with Bob, anything that reduces friction is good..  Now about your competitor, unless you know his exact set up, don't just assume.  It might be part of that or it could be a different part of his set up...  And don't forget, driving style plays a big part of things...  Depending upon what class you are in, front end set up may be playing a big part... But lots of things can help your cornering, speed, and times...  

i agree with the last two comments. a local dirt racer that had won 13 features in 1 year,he sold his  car to another racer who thought it would make him a big winner. the purchaser fell to the back of the pack for two consecutive weeks and argued that the seller had changed setups or the motor. the seller drove the car the next week and won the feature. the setup of a car is so dynamic that all you have to do is find out what parts of the track you feel weak on and improve upon them.  

however i do agree with the argument that any way to reduce friction will make you faster.
