I have a question regarding spindle reaming. I recently purchased a "spindle checker" from All Star. It has a tapered piece that screws in the top ball joint boss and another one that screws in the lower ball joint boss. Then you are supposed to slide a rod through making sure both tapers are perfectly in line. Is this optimal? What is the effect if they are not in line? And is there any reason you would ever want them to not be in line?
Thank you,

The main reason to want your ball joint tapers in line is for ease of alignment. Your caster/camber settings will be easier to obtain. Thats about it. Just keeps them even, especially from side to side (LF to RF).
