I have a 93 prelude that I want to race on a dirt cicle track. It has a spun barring in a F22A1 engine. A shop wants to charge me over $1500 just to reebuild this engine. I would like to know what other engines can I put into this car. I have found a 2.3L engine out of a 99 Accord, would this work? ANy body know of any good cheap engines that will work located in the Savannah area?

UPdate: I bought another F22A1 from a guy that had one in his back yard. Supposedly ran before taking it out. Any body know what is the best rebuild kit that I would need. I am going to take my head and external parts off of my engine and put it on the one I just bought. Any Tips as to what I should look for while I have the engine apart.

I agree. Buy a used one that runs. What track do you plan on runnin? The 2.3 is heavier and lacks about 40hp.

possible swaps
H22A/a1/a4 DOHC VTEC, some variances in trim H23A1 2.3 DOHC non vtec F22A1/a4/a6 SOHC non vtec variances in motor
all of these are drop in swaps, use same mounts wiring harness only need for additions in wiring (1-2 wires)

the f22a1 is a NON-VTEC engine so your best bet is to go with another non-vtec engine, unless you're good with wiring, i've been playing with hondas for 5+ yrs now and thats your best bet, if possible search for JDM engine importers in your area and go from there engine run anywhere from $400-1500, and JDM is better then anything in North America, if you're looking for a torque monster i would suggest the F22B DOHC NON-VTEC, i currently run on in a 92 Honda accord, and i turned a 19.3s lap on our local low-bank 3/8 clay track (Brightonspeedway.com in ontario, canada) where our V-8 Prostock class fastest lap was 18.9s, and won the track championship by 700+pts in my respective class. i ran high-wide-and-handsome as some may say, running BART race wheels upfront 3in. back space, both lf-rf were 78" tires locked differential, 1.5* neg camber both wheels (just from race fatigue) and a 3in. backspace rim rr, stock rim lr. and it never missed a beat! if you want help with set-up or extra whatever! the prelude is similar to the accord i'd be happy to help, tiger_13_ca@hotmail.com good luck, hope i helped!
