I was wondering what I'd have to do to get a racing career started? I have some experience but not a whole lot. What can I do to get things going? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

First off, no matter where you're headed, a good place to start is at the Skip Barber Racing School. A 3 day driving school will teach you almost everything you need to know to be successful, whether it's street stocks on dirt, or sports cars on a road course. Take a look at iwannagoracing.com and see what's out there. If oval track racing is the goal, most people get started in either a mini stock(4 cylinder) division, or a street stock division. This involves a big commitment and expenses to just get started. You can always spend time at the local short track and help out on someone else's car. Making friends in motorsports is always a great way to start and learn what goes on behind the scenes.

I started this by the way but I accidentally deleted my first account (moron). Anyway, that's what I have heard I just didn't know if there was something else I should be doing. Are any other driving schools worth anything? What do they get you? I'm not expecting to make it into NASCAR tomorrow but I wanted to inquire how I can really start to drive and get a lot of experience so maybe I can do that one day
