we have an 85 monte carlo 350 .040 over with 185 lbs. of comp. with an enormous .417 @ .050 lift 258 @ .050 duration camshaft(some exxageration on enormous). We crank out 6200 rpm's just wondering if you guys have any proven ramp designs or duration matchups for .420 restricted lift class @ 180 lb. compression. both hands are tied behind the back on these restrictions. any input is welcomed. Comp helped out alot but they aren't circle track gurus

pcola95,
First,to acurately give you the combo you need to be running we must first know what you are lacking,,,where is the car weak and what is it not doing that you need it to do.With a little info we can get you dead on where you need to be..
1)..which head are you running, and what is your quinch area, what is your deck clearence,(how far is the piston in the hole),,thickness of your head gasket,or the number of the gasket and I can tell what you have. 2(..what kind of valves are you using and what springs, what is installed spring pressure, which should be measured at 1.750-1.800 3)..what piston and ring package are you using 4)..cam...I can already tell you for a restricted class, the cam you have is too big in duration and you have to maximize your lift,in other words you can not give up any lift get all the rules allow,Let me know what the cam is ground on,for example 106-107-108---etc.give me your exhuast duration also...is this a single pattern or dual pattern..
All the things listed above greatly effect how well you engine performs, get it right and it will wake up......Send your info and I believe I we can improve your performance...
P.S. where do you run,and what is your number..
