Hi,

Do you think that a 2 inch diameter driveshaft with 0.083 inch thickness is appropriate for a V-8 GM Crate engine with 270 Hp and 350 pounds of torque.

Do I have to use chromoly or mild steel is ok?

Thank's
Etienne

This question should be directed at a driveline specialist. We have a partner we work with who specializes in driveline technology. I have forwarded the message and will get back as soon as I get a reply. Thanks.

Accoring to Dr. Z, Barry Zackrisson, drive shaft expert, ...

Chromoly or mild steel 2 inch diameter tubing should never be used in any motorsport applications.  Mild steel 3 inch X .065 would be a more appropriate tubing size for this application because of its critical speed and strength attributes.
