Hi,

Do you think that a 2 inch diameter driveshaft with 0.083 inch thickness is appropriate for a V-8 GM Crate engine with 270 Hp and 350 pounds of torque.

Do I have to use chromoly or mild steel is ok?

Thank's
Etienne

typically the main factor in figuring out drive shaft diameter is the overall length of the shaft. If you call a driveline specialist they have a formula for calculating the correct diameter and then the wall thickness is where you would get your strength for the horsepower.  if a driveshaft is too small in diameter i was told it can actually bow at higher rpms.  and we all know we get them spinning pretty fast. hope this helps.
