I am looking for a new cam for my Stock Car. I found the ideal cams that I am looking to use. They are nearly identical. They are both split duration cams. Advertised 292/304, .050 244/256, lift at .505 and .545. The difference is the lope centers and the valve open and closeing times. Cam #1 lobe center 106 degrees with 86 degree overlap. Intake opens at 40 BTDC and closes 72 ABDC. Exhaust opens 78 BBDC and closes 46 ATDC. At .050 intake opens 16 BTDC and closes 48 ABDC. Exhaust opens at 54 BBDC and closes 22 ATDC. Cam #2 lobe center 110 degrees with 78 degree overlap. Intake opens at 36 BTDC and closes 76 ABDC. Exhaust opens 82 BBDC and closes 42 ATDC. At .050 intake opens 12 BTDC and closes 52 ABDC. Exhaust opens at 58 BBDC and closes 18 ATDC. I do not understand the difference the 4 degrees of lobe seperation will make not the difference of one cam working 4 degrees sooner than the other. Can someone expalin how one cam will perform different from the other. This will be installed in a 350 chevy block that will be raced on a 3/8 mile banked clay oval. If it would be easier cal speak to me I can be reached at 623-518-3917.
