I am heading into the 2007 season with a new late model super truck to run on the NC and SC short tracks. My home tracks rules have a $150 per shock claimer rule. The truck is a former Roush team truck with the standard 112 inch wheel base and my intention at this point is to use a crate engine.
Can anyone offer any advice on where I should start on shocks that fit in the claimer rule?

Tech Editor Bob Bolles responds:
The best way to go about this is to first contact your racing parts distributor. Talk to the sales rep and tell him how much the claimer rule specifies for each shock. Then the rep can suggest several choices of shocks that fit within that range. You can probably get a very decent racing shock for $150 or less that will suite your needs. Remember, the shocks only tune the transitions so you will need to work on the spring and sway bar setup areas first. If you get those dialed in, the shock package won't need to be too exotic for you to be competitive.
